The Subjective Museum?
The impact of participative strategies on the museum
International Conference, 26.6. – 28.6.2017 in Frankfurt/Main

By adopting participative strategies, individual experiences and subjective perspectives gain more and more importance in the museum. The conference brings together international voices to discuss the consequences of this turn to subjectivity. It aims to reflect about participatory approaches in collecting, displaying and researching and to analyze the impact of people’s subjectivity in the museum, whether it is from the museum workers, the visitors or the participants involved in projects.

The conference will be a joint effort of the Historisches Museum Frankfurt and the Department of Museology of the University Lusófona of Humanities and Technologies to bring together researchers from different parts of the world to establish a bridge to fill gaps between diverse museological traditions. The target is to promote the dialog and identify how these new concepts of museum change society, how the museum itself is transformed along with the practices and methods within these institutions.

Conference languages are English and Portuguese (translators will be present).

The conference fee is 120€ (early bird 100€ if you register until the 31.3.2017). Deadline for registration is the 26.5.2017. The number of attendees is limited to 80 people.
