Dear Students, dear Interested Parties,
we are delighted to invite you to a free Online lecture about new perspectives in sociomuseology with the presentation of the new volumes "A Guide through Sociomuseology: Roots and Practices" by Maria Magdalena Neu and "Museums and Social Change: Two Perspectives on the Social Role of Museums" by Gabriela Aidar. The presentation will take place on Wednesday 18 June at 14:00/2 pm (CET) online (details see below).
Gabriela Aidar is the Head of the Education Department of the Pinacoteca de São Paulo, in Brazil. Lecturer at
the Master's degree in Museology and Heritage at the National University of Colombia. Graduated in History
at Universidade de São Paulo (São Paulo University); Diploma in Art Museum Studies at Museu de Arte Con­ temporânea (Contemporary Art Museum) and in Museology at Museu de Arqueologia e Etnologia (Archae-
ology and Ethnology Museum). Master of Arts in Museum Studies at Leicester University, UK.
Maria Magdalena Neu strives to conduct a comprehensive analysis of Museology, delving into insights
drawn from Brazilian, German, and Portuguese museum studies. These diverse perspectives have intricately molded her understanding of the vast potential inherent in museal institutions. Splitting her life between
Brazil and Europe, she not only carries the imprints of sociopolitical divergences but also the sharp dispari-
ties prevalent within university contexts. These divergent educational experiences, especially in relation to
museum studies, have distinctly shaped her perspective.
Prof. Dr. Manuelina Maria Duarte Cândido (Federal University of Goiás, Brazil) will introduce the authors. Prof. Dr. Guido Fackler (University of Würzburg, Germany), and Prof. Dr. Federica Santagati (University of Catania, Italy) will talk with the authors.
