Abstract: The uses of the public spaces are very representative in terms of the social fabric and cohesion of each community. For example, the colonial past of European countries has generated an unbalanced representativeness in monuments, toponymy and heritage sites, culminating in a persistent celebration of a partial view only. For many people who experience exclusion, racism and marginalization today, several monuments and public spaces are extremely hurtful reminders of the origins of their suffering, therefore such monuments and spaces become contested heritage. This project aims to promote social inclusion, diversity and intercultural dialogue by reinterpreting European contested heritage through artistic interventions and performances.
